Chris’ hospitality origin story is similar to many. What really stands out is his character and personality. Chris has a heart for taking care of people. Whether to one lone guest at the bar or to a restaurant filled to the brim. Chris will give everyone top-notch service every time.
How long have you been in the hospitality industry?
I've been in the hospitality industry for 14 years.
How did you get started in the hospitality industry?
I was 14 and my dad told me to get a job and move out… and he was serious. I started as a dishwasher and line cook at a restaurant in my home town of Lexington (KY). I started serving when I was 16 and have been doing it ever since.
What is your favorite part about working in the hospitality industry?
The fast pace and relationship you can build with people. The rapport with your team members.
Can you describe a time you created a memorable experience for a guest?
During the Masters there were a whole lot of parties that were here. One of the guests spilled wine on his shirt. I had an extra shirt with me in my car. I did not hesitate to go and grab it for him. He was grateful.
What is some advice you would give to someone starting out in the hospitality industry?
Do it! Because you learn so many soft and hard skills that will carry you for years. There is nothing you can learn that learning from this industry will not prepare you for the rest of your career journey.
