We caught up the 2025 Q2 Hotel Pick Award winner, Geneva Sanders after her surprise presentation! Geneva’s warmth and generosity to her guests shined through her nominations! After her interview with our team, it is no wonder she was recognized for her hard work.

How long have you been in the hospitality industry?

17 Years

How did you get started in the hospitality industry?

Well, I retired from the hospital after working in the ER. Retired for a year… before entering the hospitality industry.

What is your favorite part about working in the hospitality industry?

The guests. I love the guests. Everybody is so nice. I get to interact with so many different personalities. I get to meet everybody and I just love it.

Can you describe a time you created a memorable experience for a guest?

I had a guest that needed an accessible room. We didn't have one available. But there was a guest in the room that really didn’t need the room. I was able to talk to the gentleman who gave up the room for the guest who needed the accessible room. I was happy we were able to accommodate that for her.

What’s one of your favorite memories of working at The Memphian Hotel?

I opened this hotel! It was just getting things together - doing everything for the front desk. I felt good being a part of something so special.

What is some advice you would give to someone starting out in the hospitality industry?

Be truthful to yourself. Be patient. Listen to your guests and always do it with a smile.
