A married couple visiting Downtown and Beale Street for the first time got lost – and a little worried. Travius chatted with the couple to put them at ease, ordered them an Uber, and stayed with them until it arrived. “He made us feel very safe and sound,” the nomination reads. “Thank you to Officer Richardson and his professionalism and Southern hospitality. How long have you been working in the hospitality industry?

One year and four months.

What is your favorite part about working in the industry?

The ability to be able to help anybody anytime.

What are your top three favorite places to visit in Memphis?

Riverside Drive, the National Civil Rights Museum, and Flying Saucer.

What is something you learned in this position that has changed your life for the better?

Never overlook anyone. Everyone is somebody. Don’t count anyone out. 

What advice would you give to someone starting out in the hospitality industry?

Be open to receiving people. Be patient. Have great communication skills.
